Does race matter when choosing friends?

Hi beloved children,

All of you have to post your comment about this topic - Does race matter when choosing friends?

This is to be done to commemorate Total Defence Day which falls on 15th February 2008. Did you remember the two songs we sing during our Music lessons today? "

A weekened with Wendell

Hi children,

How did you find the story, A weekend with Wendell?

Story description: Wendell was spending the weekend at Sophie's house, and he insisted on making up all the rules, he messes up all her toys, he steals her dessert when she's not looking, and then playing tricks on Sophie. Sophie definitely doesn't want him to stay. But when he gave her a new hairdo with shaving cream, Sophie made up her own game that left Wendell speechless!

This story teaches us that no one will play with us, like us if we are mean and nasty to them.

You can look for more books written by Kevin Henkes.
http://www.kevinhenkes.com/books/mouse.asp

Did you know? Rainbows, like the one that see in A weekened with Wendell, appear when the sun's rays are reflected in drops of falling water. Do you lnow how many colours are there in a raibow?

Do post your answers!

Sharing

The Magic Raincoat

Hi my precious ones,

Did you enjoy the story book, My Magic Raincoat?

The story description: Emily has an orange raincoat which has magic powers. Some of the events that happened were: Her wish to have a million dollars came true, her wish to have her father to spend time with her all time came true after being fired by the boss etc. But when Emily's mother trades it with the neighbour for the yellow one she originally wanted, Emily tries desperately to get the orange coat back.

The main point from this story is that Emily has learnt to use the magic raincoat for good causes and not for unneccessary things.

Do post comments with regards to the story.

Do you like it? Why? What did you learn from it?

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Lau

Do post comments on how you feel about the Lion Dance performance ? Hope to hear comments from you!

First day of Chinese New Year

Dearest children,

For the chinese pupils, how is your first day of Chinese New Year? Did you pay a visit to your grandparents and relatives? Did you greet your grandparents and relatives? Did you remember to be gracious and thank them for the red packets that they have given to you? I guess you did the above because all of you are gracious and well-mannered kids.

For the non-chinese, how did you spend the first day of the long holidays? Did you finish up your homework? You can play after you have done your work, afterall, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. But please remember to revise your work daily. Do make use of time wisely as time waits for no man.

Do leave a message telling us about your day.

Love, Miss Lau

Art (5th February 2008)

Hello precious little ones,

Why did I get all of you to draw a fish for Art today?

The reason is :

Fish of Fortune"Fish" or yu has the same sound as the word "excess" while sheng means "life". Raw fish or yu sheng is thus mandatory especially for the New Year Eve's Reunion dinner. It has to be served whole, the head and tail representing a completeness with a beginning and an end. Fish is often the last dish served, thus symbolic of the host wishing her guests abundance continually ahead of them. Yusheng is served on the seventh day also known as Everyman's Birthday in the hope of having a longer life or added material wealth. The fish is thinly sliced and tossed together with a mixture of shredded vegetables in a sweet, piquant sauce.

Hope you understand it now. ;)

Thank you.

Ms Lau

Louie and the monsters

Hello children,

Do post comment about the book. Thank you.

By the way, the books that some of you borrowed from the National Library will be dued on 22nd February 2008. Please remember to return to the NLB before the due date.
